BTW, I've noticed that in IE the images float over the right-hand column on this post, I'm trying to fix that now. Any suggestions gratefully received :o)

Did you try enclosing all the images in a container with a width specified?

There is another glitch. In IE6.0, the poster's name in the comment section encroaches with the post id number. Resizing the browser does not fix the problem.

Well, they are already enclosed by the left-hand col, so I shouldn't need to add in another block. Plus, I can't specify a definite width because it's a fluid layout.

I think I might just use the '>' selector to stop IE seeing the float.

But thank you for the suggestion.

Yeah, that's annoying: there are a whole bunch of little bugs like that that need fixing. Thanks for reminding me :o)

What I had in mind was to place all the images inside a <div> or a <ul> and setting the width to 100%. It should fill all your left column, eh? I did not test this though. Maybe I should.

Oh yes, that might work, you're right.

But man, I hate extra markup :o(

    I think I'd rather kill IE's float.
    I hate IE.. grrrrrrr.

But thank you _again_ it's something to think about :o)

I just tested it. width: 100% does not work. However, you can set height: 100% and position: relative and it will not push the right column away anymore.

If the images are placed in a <ul>, there will be no 'extra' markup (the current <div> will become <li>). Unfortunately, I have not been able to reproduce the effect required (it kinda works in IE6.0 >_<).

Lately, I have been playing around with <dl> and *sigh*. Everything seem to be part of a list, yet it is not easy to work with.

One of the blokes in my street keeps a few hens and we buy fresh eggs from him. There's nothing quite like the taste of fresh boiled eggs in the morning!

Sometimes when we run out we have to get shop eggs, and the difference in colour is amazing - ours are lovely and yellow, and the shop ones are pale and 'orrible.

Isn't it strange that I love the taste of fresh eggs but wig out at the thought of picking off the straw and 'other things' on the eggs before using them.

That's because a lifetime with processed food has left you unprepared for the harsh reality of nature. I reccomend washing the eggs like you would dirty potatoes followed by a five mile cross country run and a swim in a cold river.

Not sure about the 5 mile cross county run (remembering school days) but I'm up for taking my fresh eggs with me for a cold shower.

Hi my daughter and I are raising three chick's for 4-h and 2 are female one is a male. I have two question's please>
    1) Why do the chick's sometimes choose to peck one another till I calm them down? and usually it is the baby rooster.
    2) When the hen's begin to lay egg's in 25 to 30 week's how do I tell an edible egg from a embryo// baby chick egg? please do tell I would hate to break open one of those.
    Thank you in advance

Pam, I'm afraid I have no idea as to your questions - I'm not a chicken expert. Maybe you should speak to your local vet, I expect he/her would be able to help you. Good luck!

this may be too late and you may already know, but I can answer your questions:
1.Moderate pecking is normal and establishes "the pecking order". It can be made worse with inadequate space and too much light. Someone always ends up on the bottom.
    2. A fertilized egg will only begin to develop if the hen sits on it and keeps it warm. If no setting occurs, the fertilized eggs are perfectly fine to eat. You cannot tell the difference.
