More syndication feeds added

31st January 2004, the wee hours | Comments (7)

Just a quick one to let you know that I’ve revamped the syndication stuff. ‘Full post’ and Atom feeds are now up for grabs. Any problems then let me know.

    Great, finally a blogmarks feed.

    Keep it up, Dunstan!

Feed for blogmarks (and full posts, too!) is great, but I do have one issue: you need isPermalink on your guid elements, because otherwise aggregators (FeedDemon, for example, I got this issue from one of its newsgroups and I'm suffering of it, too) can't rely on it being a URI.

Oh, well that's a bit stupid of them, because as far as I can tell you only need to specify isPermalink if it's _not_ a permalink:

    http://feedvalidator.org/docs/error/InvalidHttpGUID.html

Never mind, I shall add in isPermalink="true" if it helps people out :o)

    Thanks for heads up.

Thanks, Dunstan! In the RSS feeds for your Blogmarks (all 4 RSS versions), there is a missing "/" between the folders "blogmarks" and "[year]" (currently "2004"), breaking the links.

This should save you a lot of nose bopping. :)

Ah! I've been trying to track down where those errors were coming from and it was driving me nuts - in fact I was giving it another go when I got your comment notification. Good timing, sir.

Thanks very much for that David, all fixed now :o)

Dunstan: I'm very happy with your new full post feed. Nevertheless, you have to put the full URL in pictures (no the relative one) because the pictures dont show up in my feed reader.

    PD: What is a blogmark?

Oh dear, well I got a few friends to test the feeds in their feed readers and the images showed up, so I thought it'd be ok. Hmm... look slike I'll have to slap in some more PHP to add on the domain name. Thanks for the tip.

As for what 'blogmarks' are - I guess they're like 'bookmarks', but for blogs :o)
