Light Angels

29th February 2004, mid-afternoon | Comments (25)

This weekend, Andy Budd, Jeremy Keith, Jon Hicks, Richard Rutter, and Stuart Langridge came down to Dorset. We chatted, we walked, we ate, we drank, and at one O’Clock on Sunday morning we took my camera and torch out to the field for some long-exposure action. This is what we made (click images for larger versions):

A motley crew if I ever saw one. Jeremy really seems to have gotten into the swing of things!

So now I know what to expect to see in heaven: web geeks with light halos.

    I'm greatly pleased.

The photo of Andy is a snapshot of me after hearing George W's State of the Union address. Oh yes, an American.

Jeremy seems to be a perfectly normal bloke, until he smiles. And then small children run away. It's really menacing.
    Good mandolin player, mind. :-)

Sort of looks like Jon (#7) is being transfigured into a Hindu deity.

    Those are pretty cool!

Do you guys all know each other outside of the blogging community, or was this just a bunch of guys who know each other from blogging who decided to get together and meet?

  14. Dunstan:

I knew all of them from blogging, but they didn't all know each others' sites (until I sent the invites out).

Andy, Jeremy and Richard knew each other in the real world, but that was all.

I thought I'd simply invite everyone over and see if we all got on.

    And we did :o)

I guess I'll have to actually do some blogging to get invited next time, even if I am just in Blandford...

Sounds like it was a blast, and similar to what I did in the summer, except with less airplanes and 9 hour Greyhound journeys.

Frankly, I found Dunstan's photo to be far more scary than Jeremy's. Jeremy looks like the number one right-hand man to the Dark Lord, but Dunst looks the essence of His Darkness himself.

I knew that halo I saw around Dunstan's head last was all done with smoke and mirrors. Now the truth comes out :)

Wow - seems you guys had a great geek weekend. Good on you!

It just a shame that there are not enough geekchicks to invite along also!

Unless someone can prove me wrong - please do!

I think (and my mother would agree here) that I look sweet and harmless.

Grannies are probably clutching their hands to their chests and saying "Awww...", young women are suddenly finding the idea of having babies appealing... those amoung us who are apt to cry are no doubt wiping a tear from their eye - love is spreading around the world, and all because of me.

I think you'll find that's how it is, Molly.

Loved the pictures. I've always been a fan of the designs with light. Seems to be catching on too. Don't know if you've seen them but it's been used in some recent music videos. They're available for download here: http://cauchemars.com/films.php

The ones to note are Radiohead and Red Hot Chili Peppers. The light designs also show up in a couple others but not anywhere near the amount.
