    I should think the weight increase over paint would be minimal (and a fraction of the overall weight of the car).

    Oh. I didn't realize it was PLATED--I thought it was solid chrome.

    Deb, things are not made of chrome, they are always plated. "Chrome" is the slang term for Chromium, which is a metallic element. It is applied through electroplating, not via melting it down and dipping it (like fondue). Just so ya know.
