A few weeks ago Dave Shea posted an article about Fitts’ Law, which states that:
The time to acquire a target is a function of the distance to and size of the target.
This means that the larger the target, and the shorter the distance you have to move to get to that target, the quicker it’ll be to acquire.
Dave had taken that idea into account when producing his latest site design, and it’s something that I tried to incorporate into my recent work as well…

The image displayed above is a 1600 pixel-wide panoramic view from the top of my parents’ house in Dorset, England. The system uses an XML weather feed from their local airbase to provide an up-to-the-minute graphical representation of the current weather, moon, and daylight conditions at their house. It's pretty cool, really.
